Some people are scared of wall paper, because lets face it, it wasn't always the prettiest thing to look at.  But, company's now make it in every color and pattern you can think of!  There are so many great collections out there, it could be a cool addition to your room.  Here are some examples of some Thibaut collections:

This pattern is light and airy and plays off the other pieces in the room.

Design Tip Thursday:

Throw pillows, they can help pull together a room, and give it that finishing touch.  A good rule of thumb to have for throw pillows is to have a patterned one, and a simpler one.  Such as a stripe or a stripe with your focal pattern.  Keep your simpler pillows in your classic prints, such as stripes, checks, or a simple geometric pattern.  This way, all of your pillows play off of each other well.

Ah, labels.  Who doesn't love to label things?!  Labels make you more motivated to put things back into their rightful places.  It also helps the family get back in the swing of putting things where they belong, once you've done your lovely organizing.  There are so many ways/ places to get labels.  You can get ready made labels at craft or paperie specialty stores.  Or, there is the option of printing labels from online via websites like pinterest or google 'free printable labels'.  They have all colors and styles available for you.  Every room in your house could benefit from it.  Bathrooms,  playrooms, kitchens, etc.
Below are some cute ways to introduce labels into your organization:

You can even get creative with chalk board paint to change your labels easily.

Organized toy storage, a good way to teach kids to put things away.

Coordinate your labels with your room colors for a customized look.

Think out of the box with your materials, like these mini chalk boards.

Cool Finds!

Today:
Cool backsplashes!
A friend of mine called me recently with a design dilemma with his backsplash, not knowing what colors or patterns to use.  But, a backsplash can be a REALLY cool focal point in a room.  It's a great opportunity to bring a little color, texture and pattern into the kitchen or bathroom.  Next time you're ready for a new look in your kitchen, opt for a fun backsplash, like these:

Give basic cabinetry a cool look with a geometric pattern.

A pop of color with neutral cabinetry is gorgeous!

A soft color/pattern combination is beautiful!

Cool Find Friday!

Recently, Jill hosted a superbowl get together for her son and some of his friends.  She did an awesome table setting for this event at her home, and I just wanted to share a few of her pictures.  She used chalk boards as trays and labeled the foods she prepared.  What a cute idea!  They turned out great, she even incorporated the black from the chalk board into cones of popcorn, napkins, and football themed plates.  You could really use this for any theme of a party you're hosting, its a great way to let your guests know what you're serving.  Such a great idea!

Design Tip Thursday!

Drapery can be such a focal point in a room!  So, if your room is in need of a complimentary pattern, use your draperies as an accent pattern!  A stripe, check, geometric pattern is always a nice accent for many fabrics.  Use this opportunity to give the room an extra splash of color or tie in a color that you would like to use.  If you find a new favorite color, using drapes, pillows and accessories are a great way to introduce it into an existing space easily!

Even a soft pattern, like this stripe, pulls the space together.

Using window treatments and pillows, you can tie a new color into your space.

Use a color that you love or a fun pattern on your windows!

Inspiration Wednesday!

The colors of spring have been so inspiring to me lately! The soft pastels that are coming through in home decor are beautiful!  Using some of these colors in your home will evoke a feeling of happiness.  Soft yellows, blues, greens, pinks and purples can be added through little accents for spring and changed out when you are ready for a brighter summer pallet.

Monday is organization day!

What is small and can take over your home in a matter of minutes??? TOYS!!!  They seem to be every where you look or shoved into every nook and cranny your child can find.  I found some cool solutions to toy storage that look great and can be done on any budget!
It is best to go with a basket or a bucket in this situation (easy for the kids to throw in the toys).  Any size book shelf will do, or get someone you know to help you make a bench with storage slots underneath!  Pick up some bins that tie into your space, you could even use chalk board paint/tags to create a label for your child to remember which toys go in which bins.  Happy organizing!

Cute patterned fabric bins!  Love the picture wall!

Colorful organization that adds a splash of color!

Love these storage baskets and focal wall!
