Color Tuesday!

Today's color Tuesday is completely a classic combo, but one I have been seeing a lot of.  Because, lets face it, navy is the new black.  Navy can pair with just about anything beautifully, it has become a new love of mine since working here at J. Lawrence Design.

This room is so clean and fresh.  Just a few pops of green, and it becomes so stylish.
Can we just talk about the nail head trim? Gorgeous.  Love this color combo.

This room features more of a navy/sage combo and it still works beautifully.

Love the surprise pop of color behind the shelves!

Color Tuesday!

Since it has been oh so sunshiney lately, I thought I would do yellow for my color Tuesday and some colors it pairs well with!
I LOVE this room.  It's so cheery and happy.  The pops of a light apple green work so well with this buttery yellow.

Keep it neutral if you want to do a bright yellow like this.  Love how it is done in punches of intense yellow.  Check out Martha back there popping in with a yellow top.  Go girl! ;)

Yellow can be done in a bedroom too, best paired with a color such as this sky blue so you can still have a tranquil feel in your bedroom.  Bed time approved.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Color Tuesday!

This color combo is a gorgeous classic pair.  Camel and white is a simple pair, but so pretty.  Camel is a warm, rich color while white is clean and fresh.  Together, I think they are beautiful.

Love the grey worked in with these colors.

This room is airy, but while still being rich and cozy.

Color Tuesday!

Aqua has long been a favorite color of mine.  It is a gorgeous color and pairs well with SO MANY things!

Love the combo of all three of these colors!  The white keeps is clean and airy while the camel colors keep it grounded.

This is an awesome example of a bold statement made with blue and orange!  Loving the trim work on the drapes.

Ahh this kitchen is super light and fresh, just a few soft pops of color, then an eye catching table.

Enjoy!

Color Tuesday!

Today's color is a simple one, yet elegant and timeless.  White!

White on white with a few pops of greenery! Love this clean look.

Use a subtle color scheme throughout, notice the white textured painting in the back!

You can use different tones of cream in the space, loving the white pottery on the cream shelves!

This room is so elegant, love the pop of color on the flowers!

Such a light and airy space!

Happy Tuesday!

Color Combo Tuesday!

Today's color combo is different, but one I am enjoying! Peachy tones with navy.  I love the bright peach tone anchored by the deepness of the navy blue!  They look so pretty paired together and they balance each other out!  Just a few pops of peach next to navy, it looks so pretty!
Light and airy with peach and navy pops.

Don't they look so pretty together ;)

Enjoy!

Happy color Tuesday!

Bright green, apple green or lime green can be either a fun or very intimidating color to work with.  But, as with all bright colors, if you use them in pops or one strong accent with this color, it is beautiful and so fun.  It is a great cheer color that pairs so nicely with lots of other colors.  It is a very versatile color and if used in the right way, it can be beautiful and subtle.

Bright, inviting doors.

Great pops of green!

Love this wall paper.

Color Tuesday!

Today's color is red!  A color that many people are a little leery of putting into their homes.  But you can do red in a beautiful way!  A beautiful way to do red, is to pop it into the room.  Use it on accessories such as throws, pillows, curtains, vases, etc.  It won't be too overwhelming and you can still get to use this color in your room!

Just a few pops of red really stand out in this room!  Love the pillows.

Tying in the drapes with the red pops looks great!

Enjoy!

Color Tuesday!

Today's color is a classic color, it looks beautiful with so many colors.  It's navy blue!  This color looks amazing with colors like khaki and coral.  It is a great base color, because of it's ability to stay in style and pair well with other colors.

Love the rich color of the leather with the white and navy.

The patterns are really pretty in this space!

I love the contrast of these two colors!

Enjoy :)

Orange you happy it's color Tuesday?

I just couldn't resist the title!  That being said, orange is one of those colors that stay popular.  With all the variations from bright orange to terra cotta colors, everyone loves orange.  Pops of this lovely color can really make or break a room.  Be cautious with it, but pops and accents of this color are lovely!  It always stays in style, and can set a room off beautifully!

Love these accent throws!  Eye catching!

Pretty little orange trims look light and beautiful in this space.

I know she doesn't have anything to do with interiors, but she does look awesome in the orange ensemble.

Enjoy!

Color of the day? Grey!

Grey is one of my all time favorite colors.  It is a classic, you can't go wrong with it!  It pairs beautifully with other colors, and it can be as soft or as bold as you want it and still look amazing.  Grey can be applied to any aspect of your home from walls to seating.  It is the perfect color for elements you don't want to change regularly, such as your sofa. You can change the accessories around it as it is a beautiful neutral base for other items in the space.

Grey really pops up against the white trim and dark floors!

Love grey and turquoise together!

Grey walls and seating with pops of color and pattern!  Gorgeous.

The latest spring color!

Two words: Mint.  Green.  I am a tiny bit obsessed at the moment.  It's always been a favorite color of mine, and it's finally found it's place in the world.  Mint is popping up everywhere right now; interiors, clothing, make up, etc.  If you love this color, try incorporating it into your space.  You can still get trendy with new popular colors without making a huge commitment.  Try a piece of furniture or accent pillows in your space as a way to introduce your new colors.  You could always do an accent wall in your favorite color, as a way to get the color into the room, without overpowering it.  Try these tips with your new favorite color, it's easy to change but you still get to enjoy your favorite colors in your space!

Get creative with things to add to your space, even frames like these could be a cool addition.

A couple of pieces done in your favorite color can be a great focal point for the room.  Keep the background neutral and light.

Try an accent wall behind the bed for a splash of your favorite color, keep everything else light and neutral.  This color is calming and relaxing.

Enjoy!

Color Tuesday! Spring colors!

I am obsessing right now over...PURPLE!  So glad it is finding its place in the world.  Purple is a color that evokes royalty and richness.  It can be used for a fun bright pop of color or a deep luxurious color.  If you like the color purple, try it with some throw pillows or an accent chair!  So many possibilities for pairing it with other colors, yellow would be fun for a bright, fun room and grey and eggplant would be gorgeous for a more rich deep toned room.  Either way, if you want to try new colors coming out for spring, try them through accents.  They're easily changed when your next favorite color comes along!

Color Trends: To trend or not to trend?

It's an Emerald Green 2013
Color trends have become a design timeline, defining style eras of the past. A color trend emerges,  fashion and interior design worlds take notice, fabrics are produced in massive amounts until all you feel like you can find to cover your new sofa is the current color trend. Department and discount stores then carry home goods in the color trend. Everything from bookends to dog bowls are manufactured and sold until 1 in 5 Americans have the same home color scheme, and we are all sick of it and move on to the next color trend.

Some trends have stuck more than others. Some have stuck so much that we may never be able to a certain combination of colors together again. Walk back in fairly recent history with me to the mid 80's and early 90's. Remember Hunter Green/Burgundy/Navy? Or even as recently as the 2000's with the Aqua/Chocolate trend? All of these are beautiful colors, but will we ever be able to pair these combo's again?

Clients frequently say to me: "I want my home to look classic and not dated in 10 years. How do we achieve this?" One of the main things you avoid are color trends in large amounts. Stick to a classic, neutral palette for your big ticket items and accent with color trends. The color trend images below will show you what I mean.

 Ahhhh.... Hunter Green/Burgundy/Navy.
I feel like I should be watching
The Cosby Show and getting a spiral perm.

 Aqua/Chocolate of the 2000's

This is a gorgeous room, but a huge commitment to the emerald trend.

Here's how to "trend" without a huge commitment.  Accent pillows and accessories.

Great way to color trend!
